Hyeja explores the emotional landscape of contemporary cities through large-scale oil paintings.

 

Living and working between Berlin and Seoul, she transforms fragments of everyday urban experiences into dreamlike painterly narratives. Reflections, neon lights, train stations, public squares, and blurred movements become traces of memory rather than depictions of specific places.

 

Her paintings do not represent the city as it appears, but as it is remembered.

 

Drawing from photographs collected in daily life, Hyeja reinterprets the processes of collecting, deleting, and reconstructing images in the digital age. Through layers of color, light, and movement, she creates subjective urban landscapes where reality and illusion, order and chaos, coexist.
